HEYWARD WANTS MORE SPORTS IN PITTSBURGH

While the Steelers often get the most attention, Pittsburgh also has the Pirates and Penguins as other professional sports teams. The Pirates are, unfortunately, usually one of the MLB’s worst teams, but the Penguins have been one of the best teams in the NHL over the last 20 years. However, Cam Heyward wants more professional sports teams in Pittsburgh.

Heyward said on Twitter that he wants Pittsburgh to get an NBA and WNBA team. The NBA plans to add teams in a few years, but it doesn’t sound like Pittsburgh is an option. Basketball is one of the world’s most popular sports, but Pittsburgh might not have room for a men’s or women’s professional basketball team. Maybe it will happen one day.

NEW RULE HELPED TEXANS S

The Steelers passed a rule change last year, allowing teams to better communicate with free agents. It went into effect this offseason, and they recently proposed to make it permanent. While it didn’t seem to be used heavily, that might not have been the case.

Underdog NFL shared a video on Twitter where safety Reed Blankenship mentioned the rule change helped him sign with the Houston Texans this offseason. He spent the last four years with the Philadelphia Eagles, helping them win a Super Bowl. However, he left for Houston after his conversation with the Texans’ head coach, DeMeco Ryans.

BROWNS SIGN FORMER RAVEN

The Cleveland Browns ended up at the bottom of the AFC North last year. They also fired their head coach, so they’re rebuilding once again. They have several needs, but they spent some money in free agency to shore up their roster.

One move was agreeing to terms with former Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Tylan Wallace, according to Browns beat writer Mary Kay Cabot on Twitter. Wallace was the Ravens’ fourth-round pick in 2021, and he’s been a depth piece for them for several years. Most of his value is on special teams, though. We’ll see if he sticks with the Browns and gives them some explosive plays.
