Future of the Las Vegas Raiders hinges on a key NFL owners vote

The NFL offseason opened with a busy week of free agency, and teams have already shifted their focus to the draft while wrapping up key signings.

At the same time, the league continues to navigate an officiating lockout and now faces a significant ownership decision.

Reports indicate that NFL owners will soon vote on a succession plan for the Las Vegas Raiders, even as Mark Davis insists he has no intention of selling the team.

Still, the vote would position the league ahead of any future sale. The proposed plan centers on Silver Lake co-CEO Egon Durban, who would receive the first opportunity to purchase the Raiders if owners approve the measure.

That structure would bring clarity to the franchise’s long-term outlook should Davis eventually step away.

Owners will also review several minority ownership adjustments, but the potential majority stake remains the central issue.

Mark Davis has owned the Raiders since 2011, when his father, Al Davis, passed away. Al Davis built one of the NFL’s most influential legacies, founding the franchise and shaping the league’s early growth.
