While a majority of the contracts signed by the Arizona Cardinals in the last week have been for one year, that wasn’t the case for linebacker Jack Gibbens.

He joined defensive lineman Roy Lopez, wide receiver Kendrick Bourne, running back Tyler Allgeier and tackle/guard Elijah Wilkinson as players with two-year deals. Guard Isaac Seumalo signed a three-year contract.

Jack Gibbens contract detail

Gibbens’ deal is worth $7.5 million and includes $4 million guaranteed: a $2 million signing bonus and his 2026 base salary of $2 million. The 2027 base salary is $2.55 million. Each year has $25,000 per-game active roster bonuses for a max total of $425,000 and $25,000 off-season workout bonuses.

The salary-cap charge this year is $3.725 million and $4.025 million in 2027.

The 27-year-old Gibbens (28 on Nov. 24) began his career as an undrafted free agent with the Tennessee Titans in 2022. After the 2024 season, he was not tendered as an exclusive-rights free agent and signed a one-year deal with the New England Patriots.

The Patriots did not tender him as a restricted free agent on March 11.

Last season, he played 17 games with eight starts and participated in 491 defensive snaps (48 percent) and 281 (64 percent) on special teams.

There are differences in his defensive numbers posted on Pro Football Reference and what is on the Patriots statistical summary:

PFR: 81 tackles (43 solo/eight for loss), one sack, four passes defensed, one forced fumble and recovery.

Patriots: 71 tackles (39 solo), one sack, three passes defensed, one forced fumble and no recovery. The Patriots don’t list tackles for loss and they credited him with 10 special-teams tackles (four solo).

The differences occur throughout the league from what is credited in the gamebook by the statistical crew and what teams assign after tape review.
