Logan Hall is excited to return to Houston.
Hall, the newest addition to the Houston Texans‘ defense, won’t be new to the Loop when the team breaks for training camp this summer. Heat shouldn’t be a problem for the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle since he spent five years honing his craft in the Greater Houston area.
“It’s incredibly meaningful. It’s a blessing,” Hall told reporters Wednesday of his return to Houston. “It can’t be overstated how much it means to me and my family.”
A native of Belton, Hall played his college ball over at TDECU Stadium as part of the Houston Cougars’ squad. A dominant senior season and promising debut in the Senior Bowl elevated his draft status from a mid-round pick to the first selection of the second round.
While he hasn’t spent much time talking to former Cougars teammate Tank Dell, Hall is ready to reignite the flame at NRG Stadium on Sundays.

“I’m fired up,” Hall said. “I haven’t spoke to him in a while, but he’s been doing good things down here, and hopefully he’s been getting healthy. I’ll see him soon enough, and it’ll be good.”
What will be Hall’s role? Consider him the new Dencio Autry of sorts, rotating in between reps at defensive end and defensive tackle while mostly finding a home as a pass-rusher. He’ll likely to rotate between playing an inside pass-rusher or outside run defender while splitting reps with Will Anderson Jr., Danielle Hunter, Sheldon Rankins and Tommy Togiai, depending on the outlook of the play.
During his four seasons with Tampa Bay, Hall was productive. He’s coming off his best year, where he totaled over three sacks and six tackles for loss. But the role in Houston has a much more stable approach, one that will allow him to attack with finesse rather than brute strength.
“I think here I’d have more of an opportunity to pin my ears back and go, which is outstanding. I think cultivating that and continuing to soak up and absorb everything I’m learning from (defensive line coach Rod) Wright and everybody else around me. I think that’s going to definitely add to my game.
“The blitzes and stunts and just being dialed in that way is really rewarding and really fun to play for. So, I think DeMeco is going to have a lot of good stuff like he has shown in the past. I’m just really excited to be a part of that.”
The Texans own seven selections in next month’s draft.
