The Texans have shown this offseason that one of their biggest priorities was to make the offensive line bigger and badder for quarterback CJ Stroud. They’ve done just that by signing both Braden Smith and Wyatt Teller, two of the top free agents on the market this offseason at their respective positions.

Teller and Smith are of the same breed. They’re both mean, rugged, and powerful blockers who will help change the mentality of the front five and add a needed boost to the rushing attack that also added former Lions back David Montgomery this offseason.

On the face, these moves make the offense better. I don’t think that’s up for debate. But that didn’t stop the Texans from sliding downward a bit in a new set of post-free agency power rankings from CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco.

“They made some moves on the offensive line, which might not be a bad thing,” says Prisco. “They have to get better up front and hope C.J. Stroud can get back to his earlier form.”

Defensively, the team added former Eagles safety Reed Blankenship and defensive lineman Logan Hall. Both are seemingly depth and rotational pieces than bonafide starters but that’s absolutely fine when the defense was one of the best in all of football during the 2025 season.

Do you all agree with Prisco’s ranking of the Texans? Why or why not? Where do you think they should rank at this point in the offseason? Let us know in the comments below!
