The Cleveland Browns have lost a depth piece in their linebacker room. It was not an unanticipated loss for Cleveland, however, as Mohamoud Diabate has signed with the Tennessee Titans in NFL free agency.

The reason this was not an unexpected move for the Browns is that Diabate was a restricted free agent, and Cleveland opted not to tender him a contract. The Browns did opt to tender a handful of other restricted free agents, like starting safety Ronnie Hickman Jr., but Diabate was not among the list.

The financial details of his contract with the Titans have not been disclosed yet.

Looking back at Diabate’s time with Browns

The Browns signed Diabate as an undrafted free agent following the 2023 NFL Draft. Despite his status as an undrafted free agent, Diabate fought his way onto the final 53-man roster and never lost that status during his three seasons with the team.

Over the past two seasons, Diabate has started a total of 11 games for the Browns. He started six games a year ago, and 11 games the year before that. He is big and athletic, and that at least flashed for the former Florida and Utah linebacker, so he could carve out a role in Tennessee.
