Details are Pittsburgh Steelers center Ryan McCollum’s one-year contract have been released. Per NFL reporter Aaron Wilson, McCollum’s deal is worth $1.332 million. It comes with a $75,000 signing bonus and a $1.1145 2026 base salary.

It is not a veteran benefit contract. It’s unclear how McCollum can earn the remainder of his money, $112,500, to reach the total of $1.332 million, but it might be coming in the form of a roster bonus should he make the team out of training camp.

A restricted free agent, Pittsburgh opted against tendering him and signed him back on a cheaper one-year deal. The Steelers performed a similar move with DL Esezi Otomewo. This offseason, the team non-tendered all of its restricted free agents.

McCollum has been with the Steelers since 2022. He spent his first two seasons on Pittsburgh’s practice squad before making his team debut in 2024. McCollum made two starts in relief of an injured C Zach Frazier, performing well in wins over the New York Jets and New York Giants. Last season, a healthy Frazier meant McCollum had little chance to play and he logged 10 offensive snaps the entire season. Still, McCollum dressed and played in all 17 Steelers games.

In total, he’s appeared in 47 games with four starts throughout his NFL career. An undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M, McCollum began his career with the Detroit Lions and played in 13 games in 2021 before signing with the Steelers the following summer.

Back with Pittsburgh, he’ll compete for one of the team’s final roster spots along the offensive line. He could be competing directly with newly-signed center/guard Brock Hoffman, who inked a one-year deal with the Steelers on Monday. Pittsburgh normally keeps nine offensive linemen on its initial 53-man roster.

Details on Hoffman’s contract aren’t currently known but Hoffman likely has a larger contract and inside track over McCollum. Draft picks could add to the competition.
