In strange Cincinnati Bengals-adjacent news, a former Pittsburgh Steelers player swears he’s recruiting Joe Burrow to town.

Former Steelers defender James Harrison, who Bengals fans are far too familiar with, recently hit the podcast circuit and said he’s working on recruiting Burrow to the Steelers.

Harrison’s odd commentary included the following:

“I’ve been conversing with him on here on a weekly, bi-weekly basis. We’ve been having conversations. I talked to him on the phone yesterday. We’ve been talking about him… he’s going to go up there, talk to Mr. [Mike] Brown to see what he needs to do to get into black and gold.”

Considering the other people in the interview, including Ben Roethlisberger, seemed blindsided by the whole thing, it’s pretty easy to tag this one as a lie.

It is, in fact, as silly as Adam “Pacman” Jones swearing the Bengals will trade for Maxx Crosby

That’s sort of where things are right now when it comes to former NFL players on the media circuit this time of year.

And, in a way, that’s sort of where the Bengals sit, reputation-wise, nationally: Next season is a high-pressure year for the organization to get things right for Burrow.
