Former Georgia quarterback Carson Beck is considered a polarizing prospect in the 2026 NFL draft.Beck’s draft stock has fluctuated, from a potential first overall pick to falling after a 2024 season with 12 interceptions and a torn UCL.After transferring to Miami, Beck led the Hurricanes to the national championship but threw a game-ending interception.

Former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck is entering the 2026 NFL draft, and his NFL draft stock has fluctuated wildly in his college career. NFL analyst Daniel Jeremiah noticed this, including Beck as one of his most polarizing players in the draft. He also included Texas A&M edge rusher Cassius Howell, Clemson defensive tackle Peter Woods, Alabama offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor, and Arizona State wide receiver Jordan Tyson.

While some of these players are polarizing due to injuries (Tyson, Howell) or disappointing play in 2025 (Woods), Beck is polarizing for a different reason. Beck had a stellar 2023-24 season, throwing for 3,941 yards, 24 touchdowns, and six interceptions. That promising season gave Carson Beck high draft stock, with some even considering him the favorite for the first overall pick before the 2024-25 season.

Unfortunately, his draft stock crumbled in 2024. He threw for 3,485 yards, 28 touchdowns, and an SEC-leading 12 interceptions. He also missed half of the SEC championship and all of the Sugar Bowl due to a torn UCL. He originally planned the 2025 NFL draft, but changed his mind, electing to enter the transfer portal and play one more season.

The Miami Hurricanes nabbed him to a lucrative NIL contract, and Beck rebounded slightly. He had 3,813 yards and 30 touchdowns, leading Miami all the way to the national championship game. However, he still threw 10 interceptions, including the game-ending interception to lose the championship for Miami.

During the 2025-26 season, Beck showed some flashes of being a superstar worthy of a first-round pick. However, he also showed ugly throws that starting NFL quarterbacks don’t usually make. He’s also a quarterback, and quarterbacks usually get taken way higher than their big board rankings due to the importance of finding a good quarterback. His draft selection will be fascinating to watch. All it takes is one NFL team falling in love with Beck.
