This offseason, the Kansas City Chiefs signed tight end Travis Kelce to a three-year contract worth up to $57.7 million.

However, the contract as signed stands to be more of a one-year deal for Kelce, meaning the Chiefs are expected to explore a succession plan at tight end this offseason.
Since coming into the league as a third-round pick in the 2013 draft, Kelce has been a surefire security blanket for Kansas City. He’s earned All-Pro honors seven times and made the Pro Bowl 11 times, helping to win three Super Bowls for the Chiefs.

Per Tony Pauline of Essentially Sports, there is quite a buzz surrounding North Carolina State tight end Justin Joly. The tight end is set to meet with the Chiefs on an official-30 visit.
Per Pauline, multiple league teams visited NCSU’s pro day to see Joly, but he was limited in what he was able to show scouts during the pro day after suffering a hamstring injury earlier in March.
“Teams were on hand at NCSU pro day primarily for tight end Justin Joly, who did not test at the combine,” Pauline wrote.
“Unfortunately, he suffered a strained hamstring a little more than a week ago and was unable to test for scouts at pro day. He did position drills and caught the ball well. The New Orleans Saints ran the drills. He told me he’s still deciding if he will run the 40 before the draft.”
Joly, a six-foot-three, 251-pound athlete out of Brewster, New York, caught 49 passes for 489 yards and seven touchdowns last season. He started his college career with UConn in 2022 before transferring to NCSU in 2024.
During his four-year college career, Joly recorded 166 receptions for 1,978 yards and 15 touchdowns. He could be an intriguing addition for the Chiefs if they take him in the 2026 NFL Draft.
