The Atlanta Falcons have found their new No. 2 running back, officially signing Brian Robinson Jr. to a one-year, $2.5 million contract. Robinson was our top free-agent RB target for the Falcons, and he makes a ton of sense as a versatile backup for Bijan Robinson.
Over his first four NFL seasons, Robinson has rushed for 2,729 yards and 17 touchdowns, while adding 73 catches for 612 receiving yards and five more scores. Atlanta also signed former Indianapolis Colts running back Tyler Goodwin, who can provide depth and special teams value.

While most NFL fans and analysts reacted favorably to the signing, many couldn’t help but point out the potential confusion of having two running backs with the same first initial and last name. Gamblers and fantasy players will need to pay close attention next season.

Robinson and Goodson are slotted in as the team’s new No. 2 and No. 3 running backs, but Nathan Carter is still in the mix for that third-string spot. Goodson was likely added more for his special teams ability and Carter showed promise as an undrafted rookie in 2026.
