The NFL draft is drawing closer by the day, and NFL teams are scrambling to gather as much information as possible on prospects to ensure they are ready to go when the commissioner takes the stage in Pittsburgh.
While much of that work has been completed, some concerns warrant closer inspection, and that likely holds for Florida defensive tackle Caleb Banks, who is scheduled to meet with the Tennessee Titans on a Top 30 visit.
Banks is a hulking defensive line prospect, but has not been able to truly work out during the offseason after re-breaking his foot ahead of the NFL Scouting Combine. But that didn’t stop him from giving it a go and pushing through some of the drills, running 5.01 in the 40-yard dash and recording a 9-foot, 6-inch broad jump and 32-inch vertical leap.
Unfortunately, the injury forced him to be an observer from the sidelines at the Florida pro day on Thursday, leaving teams with only his tape and their observations from a solid Senior Bowl week that gave teams a sample of what the 6-foot-6, 327-pound defender brings to an organization.
Banks does bring some untapped potential to the draft, although he may be better suited as an end in an odd front, making him a questionable fit in Robert Saleh’s scheme. He is an intriguing prospect, and he will be making his way to Nashville for a closer look.
