DETROIT, Mich. (WJRT) – The Detroit Lions announced that applications for their 2026 Touchdown in Your Town program are now open through April 17.

The program, supported by Meijer and Head & Shoulders, benefits Michigan high school football and cheer programs by providing schools with equipment, technology, apparel and grants funded by the Detroit Lions Foundation. Five football programs and five cheer programs will receive support this year.

“Our Touchdown in Your Town program allows us to reach all corners of the state of Michigan in support of the wellbeing and development of our youth,” said Detroit Lions Vice President of Detroit Lions Foundation and Community Relations, Roxanne Caine.

“In year eight of this initiative, we look forward to providing another five football programs and five cheer programs with the funds and resources necessary to grow the game, as well as advocate for our students as both athletes and individuals,” Caine said.

Coaches, athletic directors or administrative staff from Michigan high schools can apply for one football grant or one cheer grant through an online application at www.detroitlions.com/touchdown. The application window closes at 9 a.m. on April 17.

A committee comprised of members from the Lions organization and participating corporate partners will review submissions. Once programs are selected, the Lions will surprise students and staff to reveal the new resources during a special experience with the team.

The program has invested more than $1,000,000 since 2019 and is in its third year of supporting high school cheer programs. The initiative is part of the Detroit Lions’ $5,000,000 investment in youth sports throughout the community.
