It shouldn’t surprise Denver Broncos fans that ex-safety Justin Simmons is still football-ready after not playing last season.
In 2025, Simmons took a “picky” approach to free agency after the Atlanta Falcons let his contract expire at the end of the 2024 campaign. “[I]n terms of where I’m at now, (I’m) being a little bit more picky where we want to go and where we want to call home next … the next two years, a year, whatever it is … but a contender is No. 1 on the list right now,” Simmons told the Denver Post last year.
Simmons isn’t backing down from his demand of moving to a contender. Earlier this week, Simmons appeared on Guerella Sports’ “The Weekly Cut” to discuss his free agency and his future ambitions. You can see his response below.
Although the Denver Broncos would now fit the bill of a contender, it seems like Denver’s front office isn’t in a hurry to re-sign the safety. With the addition of Talanoa Hufanga turning out to be a home run (as Hufanga put up an All-Pro season), and Brandon Jones coming back from a season-ending pectoral injury, Denver is ready to move on to bigger and better things.
However, it’s hard to imagine Simmons having any lasting hard feelings toward the franchise that gave him his first shot in the NFL.
