Pro Football Focus has compiled a list of the most valuable trade assets of all 32 NFL teams — and the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ designation may surprise a few fans.
According to PFF’s John Kosko, tight end Pat Freiermuth is the Steelers‘ most valuable trade asset, given his abilities as both a receiver and blocker.
“The Steelers have a reliable, every-down tight end in Pat Freiermuth, but more pressing needs along the offensive line as they try to remain competitive,” Kosko wrote. “Freiermuth earned a 67.4 PFF overall grade and a 68.5 PFF receiving grade in 2025, providing steady production as both a blocker and pass catcher on a team-friendly contract.
His well-rounded skill set makes him an appealing option for teams in need of a tight end. Trading Freiermuth could allow Pittsburgh to recoup draft capital to address the left side of the offensive line or add help at linebacker.”
Freiermuth, who was selected by the Steelers with the 55th overall pick in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, signed a four-year extension worth $8.4 million in September 2024.

Failing to see much usage while sharing playing time with tight ends Jonnu Smith and Darnell Washington, Freiermuth recorded just 486 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
It remains to be seen if the Steelers consider trading Freiermuth following Smith’s release, but they do have one of the top young tight ends in the league in Washington.
