The Patriots and Eagles have emerged as one of the most talked-about storylines of the NFL offseason, especially with the possibility of a trade involving Philadelphia’s star wide receiver, A.J. Brown, moving to New England.

However, a trade hasn’t been finalized yet. While the Eagles and Patriots might be negotiating one deal, they could also be planning another significant move.

ESPN’s Patriots reporter, Mike Reiss, reported on Sunday that a league source said New England and Philadelphia might be discussing a joint practice this summer.

“Vrabel and Eagles coach Nick Sirianni have had preliminary discussions about the possibility of having the teams practice together in the preseason — likely in Foxborough, according to a league source,” Reiss wrote.

“Part of that would be tied to the NFL granting the teams’ request to face each other in the preseason, which isn’t usually a major hurdle. If it happens, the atmosphere and competition at the newly named New Balance Practice Fields would be buzzing.”

Many teams will hold joint practices throughout the league now that they have eliminated a fourth preseason game. These joint practices are a controlled environment, unlike a preseason game, and provide starters with valuable work before the regular season begins.

If the Eagles and Patriots are going to hold a joint practice, it could be a bit awkward if Brown finds himself in New England at that time, returning to practice with a team he spent four years with.
