If the New England Patriots were hoping to get a better idea regarding whether the Eagles are ready to trade wide receiver A.J. Brown, it certainly isn’t going to come from Philadelphia general manager Howie Roseman’s latest comments.

On Sunday, Roseman spoke with local reporters, fielding numerous questions about Brown’s status on the team and the trade speculation.

“I understand that there’s interest in the A.J. Brown story,” he began (per NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Dave Zangaro. “I, unfortunately, don’t have a home under a rock. But my answer to any question on A.J. Brown is A.J. Brown is a member of the Eagles.

“From my perspective, anything you ask me about A.J. Brown, I’m going to go right back to that answer. But I understand the interest. I put on TV and I see that there’s interest but my answer is A.J. Brown is a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.”

The Patriots are set to unveil their New Balance Athletics Center that was built throughout this past year, with coaches and support staff having already made the move.

So, why not show that off this summer?

According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel and Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni have had “preliminary discussions about the possibility of having the teams practice together in the preseason — likely in Foxborough.”

“Part of that would be tied to the NFL granting the teams’ request to face each other in the preseason, which isn’t usually a major hurdle,” Reiss added. “If it happens, the atmosphere and competition at the newly named New Balance Practice Fields would be buzzing.”

Why The Eagles Will Likely Wait Until After June 1 To Trade A.J. BrownAJ Brown

Will Brown be playing for Vrabel in Foxborough during the 2026 season? It seems inevitable at this point, but nothing is set in stone.

Many thought a deal could get done at the start of free agency, but there’s a key reason why Philadelphia has been holding off on sending the star receiver anywhere. And that’s because this decision involves a lot of financial repercussions.

If Brown were to be traded before June 1, the Eagles would take on a decent “dead money” hit to their salary cap this year. But, if they wait until after June 1, the team can spread it over two seasons, meaning they wouldn’t have to absorb all $43.5 million in 2026.

NFL Insider Provides Update On The Latest Regarding A.J. Brown Trade RumorsEagles WR AJ Brown

During an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” last week, NFL Insider Adam Schefter provided the latest about what he’s heard regarding the trade rumors.

“What we don’t know is what’s going to happen with New England from now until June 1st,” Schefter said. “New England could, for all we know, bring back [Stefon] Diggs, they could go sign some of the other wide receivers that are out there, they could draft a wide receiver. And if any of those things happen, then that will probably take them out of the A.J. Brown market.

“There’s no under-the-table, to my knowledge, handshake agreement between the two sides to get A.J. Brown to New England despite the rumors.”
