The 2026 NFL Draft is right around the corner, and Indiana’s Omar Cooper should be one of the first players off the board. While the wide receiver probably won’t be a top-five pick, he should be a first-round selection. Blessed with elite abilities after the catch and the versatility to line up at multiple receiver positions, teams picking in the middle to back of the first round will probably have their eyes on the Indiana product. However, only one team can select him, and these four destinations are the most likely fits.

Top 4 Draft Fits For WR Omar Cooper, Ranked
4. Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs must try to make life easier for star quarterback Patrick Mahomes as he recovers from a torn ACL. While the team bolstered the running game with the addition of Kenneth Walker, they must try to bolster the pass-catching weapons. Rashee Rice is legit, and Travis Kelce will return for one more season, but this team lacks a proven third option. First-round pick Xavier Worthy has not played particularly well during his time in the league, and Omar Cooper could immediately earn a starting job as the WR2 and third target in the passing attack.

3. Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers should have a better offensive line in 2026 than they did in 2025, but their pass-catching weapons need some work. Keenan Allen may have played his last snap with the team, Ladd McConkey took a step back following a promising rookie season, and Quentin Johnston is reportedly on the trade block. Someone must catch passes for Justin Herbert, and Omar Cooper’s abilities after the catch should make him an ideal fit for first-year offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel.

2. Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers have two proven veteran wide receivers in D.K. Metcalf and the newly acquired Michael Pittman Jr. While both players are good enough to start in 2026, they’re on the older side and don’t hold much long-term hope for the future. This team needs someone younger to step up, as Roman Wilson hasn’t played like anything more than an adequate depth piece. Omar Cooper might not have the biggest Year 1 role on this team, but he could emerge as a reliable starter by 2027.

1. San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers wide receiver room has evolved dramatically over the past few seasons. The team traded Deebo Samuel ahead of the 2025 season, and while Brandon Aiyuk is technically still on the team, nobody expects him to suit up for San Francisco in 2026. Ricky Pearsall has been a great draft pick, but he can’t do it all alone. Omar Cooper was made to play in Kyle Shanahan’s offense, as the Indiana product’s abilities after the catch make him a natural fit for the Samuel role. San Francisco made the playoffs despite enduring an absurd amount of injuries last year, and adding Cooper could give this team the offensive firepower needed to go on a deep playoff run.
