Where does Cameron Jordan rank among the pass rushers still waiting out in the free agent market? The New Orleans Saints‘ all-time sacks leader became a free agent this month for the first time in his long NFL career, and now he’s waiting to find where he’ll land alongside guys like Von Miller and Joey Bosa. And he isn’t the only Saints player with an uncertain future. Alvin Kamara is currently on the roster, but what about in September? Chris Olave is playing out the final year of his contract while negotiating an extension. And quarterback Zach Wilson just signed a one-year deal to push Spencer Rattler for the backup job behind Tyler Shough.

Saints head coach Moore touched on each of those topics during his Monday media availability at NFL owners meetings in Phoenix. As for Jordan? He’s giving No. 94 plenty of time to make a decision.

“We love Cam. Obviously, we think the world of Cam and so, again, it’s an offseason process, it’s a free agency process that every team and player get to have and so, you know, we obviously will let that process take its course. Obviously we love Cam and so, we’ll see where it takes us, you know, for him as his situation goes through,” Moore said.

Moore was asked about Jordan’s stated goal of feeling valued by his team, not just in money, but in the role in mind for him — specifically wanting an opportunity to get 10 or 12 more sacks and further climb the all-time leaderboard. To that, Moore chalked it up as “the fun healthy conversations that we all get to have” during free agency but noted it’s something Jordan has earned the right to do with the strength of his game tape last year.

“A free agent’s responsibility is to put yourself in the best position to be successful,” Moore added. “And so Cam gets to do that. That’s a credit to him and his journey and the performance that he had last year, here. I thought he did a really good job for us and so, you know, we’ll continue to have those conversations.”

What if the Saints don’t re-sign Jordan? They could turn to one of those other free agents we highlighted or another veteran like Jadeveon Clowney or A.J. Epenesa, whose one-year Cleveland Browns deal fell through upon taking a physical. Epenesa had six or more sacks three years in a row until foot and neck injuries slowed him down last season. Maybe the Saints’ doctors clear him where another team wouldn’t. At the same time, New Orleans should be looking to draft an edge rusher with or without Jordan in the rotation. ESPN’s Matt Miller thinks they could do so as early as the first round.
