It is nearly NFL Draft season, with April rolling around soon and pro days in full effect, teams are spread out across every corner of the nation, finding the next talent that they believe can take them to a Super Bowl. The New Orleans Saints are coming off a 2025 draft class that potentially could revitalize the franchise for the foreseeable future, and with the team investing heavily in free agency, they believe so as well.

For the Saints, the most recent turnaround on the calendar has been heading to the North Texas pro day to check out multiple prospects. The list of prospects in attendance can be seen in the post embedded below, and a notable connection to be made of the bunch is Baton Rouge, La. native Da’Veawn Armstead, who had a standout 2025 season and could certainly be on the radar for New Orleans.

Armstead started the vast majority of games for North Texas this year, picking up 702 total defensive snaps, posting 37 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 5 pass breakups. In coverage, he was targeted 44 times, 26 of which were completed (59.1% completion rate) for 233 yards and a touchdown. He did end up with four penalties on the year, but three of them came in their bowl game against San Diego State, so it was not a widespread issue, just one difficult matchup.

It is good to see the Saints scouts getting active everywhere they can get to, and looking into as many available talents as they can view, to see who will best fit this new-look roster.
