The Green Bay Packers look to improve the pass rush in 2026, and that could include taking a swing at a talented young star in the draft.
Green Bay will work out Texas Tech defensive end Romello Height this week, The Draft Network’s Ryan Fowler reported. Height could take over for former starting defensive end Rashan Gary if things work out for the Packers.
“Dynamic pass rusher in a loaded class is a name to become familiar with in the Day 2 bucket,” Fowler wrote via X on Monday.
Height tallied 11.5 sacks, 38 tackles, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and a pass deflection in 2025 with the Red Raiders. He played five years in college with Auburn, USC, and Georgia Tech before he joined Texas Tech last season.

In 50 career games, Height has 16.5 sacks, 111 tackles, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, an interception, a pass deflection and 27 tackles for loss. As a 6-foot-3, 240-pound defensive end, Height posted solid numbers in the draft process with a 39-inch vertical jump and a 4.64-second 40-yard dash.
Green Bay has a void to fill with Gary gone via a trade this offseason. Since the Packers don’t pick until the second day of the draft, the team could go after Height with the No. 52 pick.
If the Packers don’t land Height, Karl Brooks is set for the left defensive end spot on the depth chart. Brooks has eight sacks and 72 tackles in his young career.

Green Bay signed Javon Hargrave for the right defensive end spot, and Hargrave is a seasoned veteran with 49 sacks, 233 tackles, and eight pass deflections in his career. Behind those two, the Packers have backups Jaden Crumedy, James Ester, Warren Brinson, Dante Barnett, and Anthony Campbell.
The Packers also could use Height from an overall pass rush standpoint since linebacker Micah Parsons may miss time this season as he recovers from an ACL tear from Week 15 in 2025.
