Dave Canales Talks New Bucs A’Shawn Robinson And Christian Roseboom
March 31st, 2026

Former Bucs offensive coordinator Dave Canales.

So this month the Bucs signed two Carolina Panthers in free agency.

In Phoenix yesterday, Joe had a private chat with Panthers head coach Dave Canales about each of them.

Quickly after the free agency dinner bell rang, the Bucs pounced on veteran starting defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson to replace Logan Hall, who departed for the Texans.

A couple of weeks later, the Bucs signed the Panthers’ tackles leader, inside linebacker Christian Roseboom.

Canales seemed sad to lose them.

“A’Shawn and Roseboom, just studs. Leaders of men. Guys who are great teammates. Selfless. Give everything they have all the time. Guys that certainly helped me,” Canales said. “I’m really grateful, coming into this, my first time being a head coach to have guys that had that type of leadership because they set the tone of how you work. And that’s so important to me [free agents] we bring in or draft picks to watch professionals go about their work and how they treat everybody. Two amazing individuals. And for A’Shawn, he’s been an advocate for me verbally; Boom is not as verbal, just kind of led more by example. But A’Shawn really backed me and wanted to know, ‘Hey, Coach, how can I help?’ So he could echo the messaging so we were all on the same page.”

Impressive endorsement there from Canales.

Here at the NFL owners meetings, Joe was told an off-the-record story about Robinson. All Joe can say is the 10-year veteran has little tolerance for losing. He sounds like a quality attitude addition for the Bucs after two years in Carolina.
