Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow gave some fans serious anxiety during his showing at a recent flag football tournament.

Burrow was his usual competitive self there, taking dives and even hits while going to the turf in his pursuit of a win.

One would think, then, that the Bengals were just as anxious.

Speaking with reporters at NFL league meetings, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor sort of sounded just like fans about the whole thing, though.

“We got through it, and fortunately, I was at the Nebraska-Vanderbilt (NCAA Tournament) game and pretended like it wasn’t happening until it was over. So thankful we got through it and we’re good, and we’ll just move forward and get ready for our season now.”

The real kicker was the idea that Burrow will just be Burrow: “You don’t know how it’s going to play out. Obviously, you should all know, if Joe’s going to do something, he’s going to go all out and do it, he’s going to try to win, and that’s why we should love him.”

No word on whether the rest of the Bengals organization shares that sort of happy-go-lucky attitude about Burrow risking injury doing non-football activities. But what can they do?

It’s not like the Bengals can weave in some clauses or demands about Burrow’s life, to briefly mention the dramatic side of things. And they’re going to need to reckon with the inevitability that Burrow wants to partake in the 2028 Olympics, too, if possible.
