Arizona Cardinals fans will not be able to get away from the chatter about the team and Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson. Media analysts are connecting Simpson, considered the second-best quarterback prospect in the draft, to the Cardinals as a good fit, and so the latest trend in mock drafts is having the Cardinals trade back into the end of the first round to draft him, and one even has Simpson going third overall.
That chatter will continue with the latest report.

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, Simpson has official top-30 visits scheduled with several teams, including the Cardinals. He is scheduled to meet with the Cardinals, Miami Dolphins and Cleveland Browns, all of whom are in the quarterback market.
NFL rules allow teams to host up to 30 draft prospects for these visits to the team facility, taking them out to dinner and interviewing them.
The Cardinals do not have a quarterback on the roster signed beyond 2026. Jacoby Brissett is in the final year of his two-year contract and Gardner Minshew was signed to a one-year deal last month. Kedon Slovis is signed through 2026 but will be an exclusive rights free agent, but no one truly believes he will be on the roster this season.
Simpson started only one season in college, 15 games last season. He went 11-4 and led the SEC in passing attempts and completions. He completed 64.5% of his passes for 3,567 yards, 28 touchdowns and only five interceptions.

Many expect him to be drafted in the first round, but it seems unlikely he would go early and that the Cardinals would consider him for the third overall pick. The Cardinals could trade back into the first round, but that would cost them draft assets.
The visit doesn’t mean they will draft him, but it means they want to know as much as they can to decide whether or not they would consider it.
