If less is more then the Atlanta Falcons might be doing a whole lot of less with their new uniforms. Well, that is if a recent leaked jersey is to be believed.
The Falcons had gone 17 years between uniform changes, but ahead of the 2020 season, the team opted to go with an ambitious new design. And, well, it’s safe to say that the 2020 uniform era was a complete dud as the team is already going forward with a full redesign.

The 2020 set included big “ATL” text on the chest, borderline illegible numbers and a gradient jersey that was scrapped after two seasons. Amid that failing look, the team did have an absolutely elite throwback alternate, leading to many fans begging Atlanta to return to the classic look on a full-time basis.
On Tuesday, a red Falcons jersey appeared to leak ahead of the official Thursday unveiling. And while it did have somewhat of a classic look, the red jersey might leave something to be desired. Like, any personality whatsoever.
As a jersey, it’s pretty basic. But this might be a case of needing to see the helmet, pants and socks. Still, if this leaked jersey is accurate, it’s a significant improvement over the previous set. We’ll also have to see if a red jersey is the primary home or if it will serve as an alternate.

Fans were understandably mixed on this jersey, but again, it sure beats the near-universal negative reaction to the last set. It’s not offensively bad, and it’s not particularly memorable. That might be just what the Falcons needed.
