Linebacker Drew Greenlaw joining the Denver Broncos didn’t work out as planned in 2025.
Greenlaw dealt with injuries amid eight games played, and the Broncos cut him after the season. He recently opened up about things not working out in Denver after his previous successful run with the San Francisco 49ers.
“Honestly, it was a tough year, brother. It was a tough year. One of my toughest … years,” Greenlaw told former NFL offensive tackle Terron Armstead during The Set podcast on Monday. “Love the organization, great organization, great people in the organization. I felt like the training staff was second to none. Just teammate-wise, man, great teammates, man. A really, really close building. Very, very similar to how it was in the Niners, man.”

Greenlaw rejoined the 49ers this offseason with a one-year, $7.5 million deal. With the return, Greenlaw looks forward to teaming up with 49ers All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner again.
“Fred, he came in a year before me, but I swear, it just feel like a certain feeling we got when we just play,” Greenlaw said. “It’s not for each other, but when we look across that, and we see each other, you dang right it’s for each other. It’s like, ‘you’re not going to let me down, I’m not going to let you down.’”
“It’s such a weird connection, but he knows I’m going to put all I got on the line, and I know he’s going to do the same, and that’s all you can ask for. It’s like a partner in crime,” Greenlaw added. “It’s all going to work out like it’s supposed to, but I’m thankful for it all. I’m thankful for all the relationships that I’ve had for those six years, and kept along this past year, and will continue to keep along this year, too, as well.”
