Chiefs officials are “lobbying the league” for a game in Spain after the Falcons announced they will play this fall in Madrid at Bernabéu Stadium, according to Sam McDowell of the K.C. STAR. Chiefs President Mark Donovan said, “We’ve been very open and aggressive with the league — as we have been since the beginning — that we want to play in Spain this year. We think it would be a great market, game (and) matchup.” The Chiefs added Spain as one of their international rights markets last year. The Falcons matchup will “be revealed when the full schedule is released” in May. Donovan said, “It’s perfect timing for us. And to play in Real Madrid, and for our fans to experience that stadium and city, I think it’d be amazing for our fans. So we’re all in.” McDowell: “Will the league be all-in? That’s not exactly a lock.” The Chiefs have “long raised their hand for international games.” In the QB Patrick Mahomes era alone, the Chiefs have played in Brazil (2024), Germany (2023) and Mexico City (2019) (K.C. STAR, 4/2).

FOR THE GIRLS: ESPN.com’s Nate Taylor noted the Chiefs revealed an advertising campaign called “Let Her Play” on Thursday in hopes of “persuading the Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) to make girls’ flag football a sanctioned sport in the state.” In a 55-second video, the Chiefs “showcased several girls who already play the sport.” The Chiefs then “highlighted girls in Kansas who can only dream of representing their school by playing organized flag football.” The Chiefs’ video ends with prominent members of the organization — including coach Andy Reid, Donovan and players such as G Trey Smith, C Creed Humphrey and WR Xavier Worthy – shouting the three-word phrase, “Let Her Play” (ESPN.com, 4/2).
