The Pittsburgh Steelers are in a position to completely restructure the core of their team in the first year under new head coach Mike McCarthy. They have more selections in the 2026 NFL Draft than any other team. The Steelers will be looking to land starters at these positions.Â
Safety
The Pittsburgh Steelers need to find a starting safety in this year’s draft. Last season, they were forced to convert All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey to a free safety to fill the gap. Deshon Elliott and Jaquan Brisker have been solid tacklers throughout their NFL careers, but they desperately need to get younger and more dynamic at the position. At pick No. 21, Pittsburgh could have its pick of either Dillon Thieneman from Oregon or Emmanuel McNeil-Warren out of Toledo.Â
Wide Receiver
The Steelers have an outstanding one-two combo at wideout. But after D.K. Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr., the wide receiver depth is uninspiring. Expect Pittsburgh to select a wide receiver or two in this incredibly deep class.
Interior Offensive Line
The Steelers have a bit of a question mark at IOL going into this season. Offensive guard Isaac Seumalo went to Arizona in free agency. Spencer Anderson has been with the team since 2023 and is expected to step into the starting role, but they certainly will look to draft a promising young prospect to compete for the spot in year one.Â
Quarterback
It’s a great year to take a stab at a quarterback. Several teams seem to be holding out for the 2027 draft class, but Pittsburgh will not be one of them. If Aaron Rodgers plays one more season as expected, stashing a developmental prospect like Ty Simpson or Garrett Nusmeier behind the future Hall of Famer is the best-case scenario.
