Jayden Daniels is already leading the 2026 Washington Commanders.
That’s right, why wait until after the draft when the team will conduct OTAs? Why not lead now? Ben Standig, a guest on the “Kevin Sheehan Show” on Team 980 in Washington, D.C., on Friday, told Sheehan that Daniels is already working with teammates out in California. Those Standig named as working with Daniels are veteran and No. 1 receiver Terry McLaurin, receiver Dyami Brown, and newly acquired free agent running back Rachaad White.
The connections are not difficult to make. Daniels and McLaurin teamed up often in 2024 when McLaurin caught 82 passes for 1,096 receiving yards, including 13 receiving touchdowns. Brown, also with the Commanders in 2024, caught only 30 passes, though he played in 16 games. Thus, Brown only collected 308 receiving yards and a single touchdown pass. Yet, in the three playoff games that year, Brown caught 14 passes for 229 yards for nine first downs.
White was a college teammate of Daniels at Arizona State. It would be no stretch to suggest Daniels wants to teach White some of the routes he used with Austin Ekeler during that 2024 successful run. There could be other players there, working out, but other names have not yet been revealed to Standig.
McLaurin, of course, executed his infamous holdout during last summer’s training camp. Standig commented that it was good to see McLaurin and Daniels wanting to work together this early in the offseason. Indeed, it is good to see, and perhaps, as Standig said, there may be other players there as well, but Standig was only told of these.
