The Unpacking Future Packers Countdown is a countdown of 100 prospects who the Green Bay Packers could select in the 2026 NFL draft.
The Green Bay Packers figure to be a team that will go back for seconds at the Cornerback Buffet at the 2026 NFL Draft.
Even with the addition of Benjamin St. Juste, the Packers need an infusion of talent at the position. Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine are both entering contract years. It’s a need right now and in the long term.
A potential target in the third round of the upcoming draft is Davison Igbinosun. The Ohio State cornerback checks in at No. 24 in the Unpacking Future Packers Countdown.
A native of New Jersey, Igbinosun started his college career at Ole Miss, where he recorded five pass deflections during his lone season with the Rebels in 2022. The following season he transferred to Ohio State and recorded 59 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and five pass deflections. In 2024, Igbinosun recorded 45 tackles, two tackles for loss, two interceptions and nine pass deflections. During his final season with the Buckeyes, Igbinosun recorded 53 tackles, two interceptions and eight pass deflections.

“Davison wound up being a key piece in a historically good Ohio State defense,” Stefan Krajisnik, an Ohio State reporter for Cleveland.com, said. “His coverage skills made him a lockdown corner who also made big plays when necessary. Perhaps the most intriguing thing is what he meant to the culture of the cornerbacks room. He was a transfer who came to Ohio State from Ole Miss ahead of the 2023 season. Denzel Burke, who’s now with the Cardinals, was there, but outside of him, OSU’s cornerbacks room was in an odd spot. Davison brought an edge with him, which resulted in him leaving the room better than he found it – something coach Ryan Day has praised in the past.”
At 6-2 with nearly 33-inch arms, Igbinosun has the frame that teams are going to fall in love with. He does a great job of using his length to disrupt wide receivers at the catch point and at the top of their routes. The Buckeye cornerback has composed footwork to mirror receivers in coverage. He’s able to stay hip-to-hip with wide receivers. He has a quick trigger to anticipate quick throws and drive downhill. According to Pro Football Focus, Igbinosun gave up zero touchdowns this past season. He cleaned up his tendency to get grabby in coverage, cutting his penalties down from 16 in 2024 to five in 2025.
“Davison has always been great in coverage, and his size makes him difficult to compete with,” Krajisnik said. “His biggest issue in 2024 was penalties. He was often sound in coverage, but at the top of the route just got a bit too aggressive. He cleaned that up in 2025, going from 16 coverage penalties to five.”
Igbinosun doesn’t back down against the run. He’s never shy about getting physical in coverage and that translates over to his efforts in run support. He does a good job of coming to balance and getting his man to the ground. With his impressive wingspan, he has a wide tackle radius.
“Davison was a fairly sound tackler who seemed to often take good angles in helping Ohio State defend the run,” Krajisnik said. “His missed tackle percentage was middle of the pack among cornerbacks with at least 650 snaps played last season, so he’s reliable enough there and isn’t afraid to get into a pile.”
Fit with the Packers
Brian Gutekunst hasn’t used a Top 100 pick on the cornerback position since he drafted Eric Stokes with the 29th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. That is likely going to change in the upcoming draft and Igbinosun could be a target in the third round.
Igbinosun certainly has a lot going for him. He finished his career with 53 career starts. He has outstanding length for the position, which he utilizes to disrupt wide receivers in all phases. He’s also a willing participant in the run.
“Physically, Davison owns all the traits you’d want in a corner,” Krajisnik said. “Even when he was struggling with coverage penalties in 2024, everyone knew he’d generate traction from the NFL because of his physical attributes. His improvement as the Buckeyes’ top cornerback in 2025 only solidified those beliefs. He also has the personality of a corner. Walking into a new situation as a transfer is tough, especially when you’re joining a blueblood. He hardly flinched, though, helping leave his imprint on the program.”
If Igbinosun lands in Green Bay, he’d challenge for a starting role as a rookie and would likely step into a permanent starting role during his second year in the league.
