The Seattle Seahawks are in full-swing mode for the 2026 NFL draft. Although they have a limited arsenal of only four picks, expect general manager John Schneider to make the most of what resources he has to get his team ready for the upcoming season. The Seahawks’ defense was beyond stellar last year, and among the reasons why this unit took such a significant leap forward was the strength of their defensive line. Perhaps Seattle could be aiming to bolster their pass rush with this next draft class.

One such player Seattle has their eyes on is New Mexico EDGE rusher Keyshawn James-Newby. Recently, on an interview with Seahawks Wire contributor Justin Melo, James-Newby said he met with Seattle. James-Newby’s comments are below, but you can read the full interview here.

“I’ve met with a few teams. I met with the Seattle Seahawks. I have a second meeting with them scheduled, an upcoming in-person visit. I met with the Detroit Lions’ linebackers coach. We broke down some plays together. I met with a Lions scout for a second time. I met with the Denver Broncos and Minnesota Vikings as well.”

James-Newby proved to be a force of nature for the New Mexico Lobos after transferring from Idaho. In his lone season in Albuquerque, James-Newby recorded 52 total tackles, nine sacks, and recovered two fumbles he forced. Seattle’s starters along their defensive line are among the best in football, but adding someone like James-Newby would go a long way to rebuilding some of their vaunted depth.
