The New York Jets are around two weeks away from the 2026 NFL Draft, where they’ll end up taking multiple players that could decide the future of Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey’s job status in New York.
One of the main areas of the roster the Jets need to address is the wide receiver opposite of Garrett Wilson. Adonai Mitchell is a high-upside, low-floor option that’s best suited as a third WR at best.
With a clear need at WR, the Jets are scouting a few closely this offseason. One, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, is Louisville’s Chris Bell, who has drawn some A.J. Brown comparisons this draft process.
Jets host Louisville WR with A.J. Brown comp on 30 visit
“Louisville WR Chris Bell is at the Jets on a Top 30 visit today, then he has Colts and Combine Rechecks later in the week,” Rapoport reports.
Bell is a fascinating wide receiver prospect, as the 6-foot-2, 220-pound WR has immense potential, but coming off a torn ACL this past December, there is some concern about what he’ll be able to do in 2026.
But the Senior out of Louisville was an incredible receiver when he was on the field this past season. He caught 72 passes for 917 yards and six touchdowns, all career-highs for the fourth-year WR.
When it comes to Bell’s NFL comparison, NBC Sports Boston’s Phil Perry noted how the Louisville wide receiver has a comparison to Brown, the Philadelphia Eagles All-Pro WR.

“One of the most difficult draft-day assessments in the class, Bell has the skill set to be (like A.J. Brown) a physically-dominant No. 1 option,” Perry writes.
While the New England Patriots are trying for a Brown trade, the Jets could take Bell at the beginning of Round 2 with either the 33rd or 44th picks to stop the Patriots from getting a high-upside WR in Bell.
The Jets taking a good look at Bell makes a ton of sense, as he’d be a great option for the Jets in the second round, even though he’s coming off a torn ACL.
While the Jets aren’t contending in 2026, they do need help right away, and even if Bell gets off to a slow start, if he shows any promise in his rookie year, the upside he brings would be as appealing as any WR in this year’s draft class.
