NFL draft season is nearly upon us, as many prospects prepare to hear their names called over the three-day event later this month. With meetings between NFL scouts and these players taking place all the way up until right before the first day, teams have extensive lists of schools to visit to hit their quota. Many NFL franchises turn to in-state prospects first, with local days available to use, and the New Orleans Saints are no exception.
Early in the process, the Saints were seen working with LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane, one of the top in-state prospects in this class, if not the top. Now, they continue the trend, as they recently spoke with Louisiana Tech defensive back Jakari Foster, the FBS interceptions leader for 2025.

Foster is one of the most prolific safeties in the nation, and 2025 was when he really came into his own as a player at the collegiate level. In year two of his Louisiana Tech career, he posted 8 interceptions, 4 pass deflections, 58 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and a fumble recovery through 13 games. In coverage, he was lights out, allowing 14 receptions on 26 targets for 105 yards and 2 touchdowns, putting the opposing passer rating at 49.8, only 10.2 points away from the 39.6 grade for throwing an incompletion.
This is the type of defensive prospect the Saints should be looking into, and it is good to see they have shown interest already. We will see if they look to select him in the draft later this month, and add to a secondary that could use an influx of additional talent.
