Former Alabama linebacker Trey DePriest has been arrested by U.S. Marshals after being connected to an armed robbery in the state of Michigan. The crime goes back to mid-November 2025 in the city of Detroit. More than just armed robbery appears to be in play too, as a report from the Springfield News-Sun says assault and felonious assault are part of the charges.

“A fugitive from justice charge was filed against Trey DePriest on Friday in Clark County Municipal Court, according to court records,” the report said. “He was wanted for charges filed on Nov. 11 of armed robbery, assault and felonious assault in a case that stemmed out of Detroit, according to Michigan’s 36th District Court records.”

The Springfield News-Sun added to its report, saying the investigation is still open. Police are still looking for another suspect in the case, by the name of Adrian Chilton. But for the time being, DePriest is listed as an inmate of Clark County Jail.

DePriest is most well-known for spending his college playing days in Tuscaloosa. Of course, his head coach at Alabama was Nick Saban. Being a middle linebacker for Saban can come with a lot of responsibilities, and for the most part, DePriest handled them well. The Crimson Tide enjoyed his on-field production.

Two national championships were won with DePriest being a big part of the rotation. Alabama went back-to-back in 2011 and 2012. In those years, DePriest played in 27 games and recorded 84 tackles. 5.5 of those were for a loss.

However, the best campaign Priest was able to put together came in 2013. He had 61 tackles, while adding career highs in tackles for loss (7.5) and sacks (two). Two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries even show up on the stat sheet.

DePriest went into his senior season with a ton of hype and once again delivered. His performances were good enough to earn first-team All-SEC in 2014. Alabama certainly enjoyed the production the linebacker was able to put together over four years while on the roster.

Not much came from DePriest when it came to the NFL. No team selected him in the 2015 NFL Draft before the Baltimore Ravens signed him as an undrafted free agent. A stint on Baltimore’s practice squad did take place. However, nothing else came to fruition for him.
