The Cleveland Browns have spent a lot of resources rebuilding their offensive line, but they have a few holes still remaining. It seems like the team wants to play Elgton Jenkins at guard, which raises the question of who will be the team’s starting center.

Texas A&M’s Trey Zuhn III played most of his college career at left tackle, but he projects best as a center at the next level. He played over 100 snaps there this year, and it was his best tape. Jenkins could potentially start at center if Zuhn needs time to fully switch to the position, but he could be the long-term answer at the position.

Strengths:

Movement skills and overall athleticism

Hand usages and technique

Zuhn brings a ton of experience to the table, and it shows up in how quickly he processes and reacts to what defenders are doing in front of him. He is a polished lineman with fast, strong hands, allowing him to quickly get into the defensive lineman’s chest.

He’s a good athlete, a fluid mover who handles speed rushers very well. His technique shows up the most in his pass protection, which was fantastic this season. He allowed just 10 pressures and two sacks this season. It may take some time to fully transition to the inside, but he has the skillset to be a great center.

Weaknesses/Areas of Concern:

Short Arms/Lack of length

Zuhn has below-average length, which is a big reason he will need to move to the inside, which can hurt him when it comes to dealing with power rushers and the more explosive twitched-up rushers. He also has modest power/play strength, which makes him an average run blocker on top of not being able to handle a lot of power rushers one-on-one. Zuhn will need to add more power at the next level, or he will struggle to be a starter despite his athleticism and polished technique.
