Former Jacksonville Jaguars assistant general manager Ethan Waugh has returned to the San Francisco 49ers, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
According to a tweet made by Schefter on X, Waugh has rejoined the 49ers front office as a personnel executive. He spent 18 years with San Francisco prior to becoming Jacksonville’s assistant general manager in 2021.

Waugh was brought in by former general manager Trent Baalke, who he worked with when he was a member of the 49ers. Waugh was in Jacksonville for three seasons as second in command in the personnel department.

He was retained after the team parted ways with Trent Baalke earlier this offseason and even interviewed for the vacant general manager position.
The Jaguars hired James Gladstone in February, signaling a new direction for the team. However, Waugh stayed with the team through the draft and assisted as they made the selection of Travis Hunter and eight other players.

But Gladstone has reshuffled the front office in the direction of the teams new vision, making several additions and subtractions.
Now, Waugh returns to the organization where he was vice president of player personnel prior to joining the Jaguars.
