2027 three-star defensive lineman Stevan Thornton III has committed to head coach Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide, according to a post he made on social media on Tuesday night.

“All glory to god for guiding me through prayer, hard work, and the support of my family,” Thornton said in his commitment post. “This journey didn’t come easy, but I’m proud to say I’m officially 1000% committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide.”

Thornton, a 6-foot-6, 200-pound edge rusher from Cairo High School in Cairo, Georgia, held 21 offers, according to Rivals, including SEC teams such as Tennessee, Ole Miss, and in-state Georgia, among others.

According to Rivals, Thornton took one unofficial visit to Alabama on April 7, with his primary recruiter being Alabama outside linebackers coach Christian Robinson. He’s rated as the No. 779 overall prospect, the No. 65 edge prospect, and the No. 87 player in the state of Georgia, according to the Rivals Industry rankings. As a sophomore in 2025, Thornton had 91 total tackles, 20 tackles for loss, and eight sacks.
