After trading up from No. 31 to No. 28 to select Utah offensive tackle Caleb Lomu in Round 1, the Patriots made another deal on Day 2, jumping from No. 63 to No. 55 to take Illinois edge defender Gabe Jacas in the second round.

Mike Vrabel, Eliot Wolf and Co. finally used their own pick in the third round, landing Notre Dame tight end Eli Raridon at No. 95 overall.
