The Steelers used Day 2 of the NFL Draft to show their hometown fans they weren’t afraid to be aggressive. After standing pat in the first round to land Arizona State OT Max Iheanachor, GM Omar Khan got active on Friday, moving up in the second round to secure a key playmaker for the offense.

Pittsburgh struck a deal with the Indianapolis Colts to jump from No. 53 to No. 47, parting with a fourth-round compensatory pick and a seventh-rounder to select Alabama wide receiver Germie Bernard. The move was a clear response to a first round where several top receivers flew off the board, ensuring the Steelers landed a polished target to join DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr. in the wideout room.

The aggressive streak continued into the third round, where the Steelers turned their attention to the most important position in football by selecting Penn State quarterback Drew Allar with the No. 76 overall pick. With three total selections on Day 2, Pittsburgh successfully addressed high-priority needs at receiver and developmental quarterback while still maintaining a healthy slate of picks for the final day.
