Jonah Coleman, a Stockton native who formerly played for Lincoln High School, was taken in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos on Saturday. He was the No. 108 overall pick. The 5-foot-8-inch Washington Huskies running back scored 17 total touchdowns and averaged 4.9 yards a carry as a senior. Coleman spent two years at the University of Arizona before transferring to Washington in 2024. Coleman was widely considered one of the best running back prospects in this year’s draft. He racked up more than 1,000 all-purpose yards in each of his final three seasons in college. When he was at Lincoln High School, he was selected Second Team All Sac-Joaquin Section by MaxPreps in 2021. Coleman had extensive visits with Denver and also Minnesota ahead of the draft, KCRA 3 Sports Director Michelle Dapper reported. Heading into the draft, Coleman said he felt “amazing” and “blessed” and was grateful to family and others in his corner. “You get everything that you possibly need,” he said when asked what he brings to a team. “You need a guy that can play four downs, a guy that’s gonna play special teams and that’s what you want. And you also want someone who is going to be good for the culture. And I felt like I’ve adapted to every situation possible, as far as changing the culture, as far as being in the culture and bettering it.” Meanwhile, another Stockton native, Zelmar Vedder, signed with the Kansas City Chiefs after the 6-foot-3-inch defensive back went undrafted on Saturday. Vedder played for East Union High School in Manteca. He went on to play football at Modesto Junior College before landing at Sacramento State for two seasons, and then made the leap to the University of Houston.Sacramento’s Michael Wortham, who was a star at Center High School before playing for the University of Montana, signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent.See more coverage of top California stories here | Download our app | Subscribe to our morning newsletter | Find us on YouTube here and subscribe to our channelPHNjcmlwdCB0eXBlPSJ0ZXh0L2phdmFzY3JpcHQiPiFmdW5jdGlvbigpeyJ1c2Ugc3RyaWN0Ijt3aW5kb3cuYWRkRXZlbnRMaXN0ZW5lcigibWVzc2FnZSIsKGZ1bmN0aW9uKGUpe2lmKHZvaWQgMCE9PWUuZGF0YVsiZGF0YXdyYXBwZXItaGVpZ2h0Il0pe3ZhciB0PWRvY3VtZW50LnF1ZXJ5U2VsZWN0b3JBbGwoImlmcmFtZSIpO2Zvcih2YXIgYSBpbiBlLmRhdGFbImRhdGF3cmFwcGVyLWhlaWdodCJdKWZvcih2YXIgcj0wO3I8dC5sZW5ndGg7cisrKXtpZih0W3JdLmNvbnRlbnRXaW5kb3c9PT1lLnNvdXJjZSl0W3JdLnN0eWxlLmhlaWdodD1lLmRhdGFbImRhdGF3cmFwcGVyLWhlaWdodCJdW2FdKyJweCJ9fX0pKX0oKTs8L3NjcmlwdD4=
