Throughout the offseason, many within the Jacksonville Jaguars‘ organization, including GM James Gladstone and head coach Liam Coen, have spoken very highly of tight end Brenton Strange.

The latest member of the Jaguars to heap some high praise on Strange was Arik Armstead.

Strange’s production took a big step forward during his second NFL season in 2024, which included him catching 40 passes for 411 yards with two touchdowns, according to PFF.

Along with his contributions in the passing game, Strange has proven to be a capable blocker as well, and when an offense has a tight end with a well-rounded skill set like that, it adds some unpredictability to that unit with that player able to fill a variety of roles, making it difficult for defenses to get a beat on what’s coming.

This can then not only create opportunities for Strange to exploit, but also for his teammates.

“He’ll elevate just by alone getting more reps, and getting him on the field is a good thing for us,” Liam Coen said of Strange via Big Cat Country earlier this offseason. “You can tell he’s hungry, wants to continue to get better, and he showed some really nice things last year, especially after the catch. Doing some nice things of breaking tackles and getting extra yards.”

After the team moved on from Evan Engram earlier this offseason, Strange now sits at the top of the Jaguars’ tight end depth chart.
