The New Orleans Saints continue navigating the post-draft phase of the offseason calendar. While the players are starting to get in shape on the field, the front office remains busy evaluating talent, and making routine roster adjustments. All as they build towards training camp.
Right now the overall roster is still taking shape, with various additions occurring during organized team activities (OTAs). These specific transactions are standard procedure, not often a big deal, as the organization attempts to finalize the right mix of players and depth.
New Orleans Adds Linebacker With Deep Family Ties
One of those recent signings is someone the Saints coaching staff is VERY familiar with. The team officially announced the signing of linebacker Jackson Sirmon to the defensive unit. Sirmon arrives in New Orleans with a direct connection to the coaching staff…his father is Saints linebackers coach Peter Sirmon.
The 240-pound defender entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the New York Jets in 2024. He spent time on their practice squad and ultimately appeared in one regular season game during the 2025 season before hitting the free agent market.

Before turning pro, Sirmon began his college career at Washington before transferring to California to play under his father, who serves as the defensive coordinator there. He recorded 291 total tackles during his collegiate career and earned All-Pac-12 honors.
Examining The 2026 Regular Season Schedule
Looking ahead to the fall, the Saints face a regular season schedule that lacks national television exposure. The team was only scheduled for a single primetime game this season, which is set against the Atlanta Falcons on Monday, October 5th (Domecoming anniversary game).
That lack of primetime visibility follows a season where the team finished with a 6-11 overall record. The upcoming schedule also features an international trip to face the Pittsburgh Steelers in Paris, France on October 25th, adding a significant travel challenge to the middle of their schedule.
