After spending last season on the Atlanta Falcons‘ practice squad, former Florida quarterback Kyle Trask has earned a chance to continue his NFL career. The 2020 Heisman trophy finalist has received a tryout invitation from the New Orleans Saints during rookie minicamp.

Trask was released by the team that selected him in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, following three seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where the ex-Gator saw limited action. The 6-foot-5-inch, 236-pound Manvel, Texas, native is a former three-star prospect who found success with the Gators after stepping in for injured teammate Filipe Franks in 2019. He would go on to have one of the most prolific campaigns in Florida history, breaking program records en route to All-SEC recognition.

At the professional level, Trask has struggled to find consistent opportunities, largely playing a backup role for the Buccaneers before falling off the free-agent radar last year. New Orleans could be a prime location for Trask to revive his career, as the QB room lacks veteran presence.
