What does a projected contract for Jaguars’ first-round pick Travis Hunter potentially look like?

Jacksonville Jaguars’ second overall pick, Travis Hunter, is one of seven first-round picks who have yet to sign their rookie deal, according to Mike Garafolo. So, what does a projected contract for Hunter potentially look like?

The first overall pick, Cam Ward, signed a four-year, $48.83 million deal that is fully guaranteed. The third overall pick, Abdul Carter, signed a deal worth $45.26 million over four seasons that is also fully guaranteed.

Hunter will presumably be somewhere in between those figures. Over the Cap has put together a contract projection, with Hunter earning $46.65 million over four years, which includes a signing bonus of $30.56 million. Like all the other contracts for first-round picks, this will be fully guaranteed as well.

While Hunter is one of what is now just a few remaining first-round picks to sign his rookie deal, it’s only a matter of time before it happens.

Perhaps what could be extending this negotiating process is that Hunter is a very unique player who is going to line up at both wide receiver and cornerback, and of course, he would want his contract to reflect that playing time, whether it be through incentives or however that is factored in.

As ESPN’s Dan Graziano laid out recently, Hunter could be in line to earn more this season through the NFL’s performance-based pay system, and when it comes time for a second contract, there are going to be a lot of moving parts to factor in to that next deal.
