The 2025 NFL free agency period has officially kicked off with the Jacksonville Jaguars expected to be pretty busy reshaping their roster. The team has had multiple offseason player releases, a trade, a retirement, and more expected turnover to come while entering into a new regime.

Last update: 9:20 p.m. ET on Friday, April 18th

April 7th – 18th (Mon-Fri)

The Jaguars have taken step one toward keeping one of their own, in picking up the fifth-year option for defensive end Travon Walker. While not a free agent move, this helps in giving context to the team’s roster construction, with them currently rumored to have interest in the veteran defensive end market for a third edge/designated pass rusher.

Many players still available on the market have been reportedly slow playing any team decisions until the draft takes place, to confirm what rookies will be brought in, for playing time purposes. While the team seems content with the current makeup of the roster until the NFL draft, the possibly of a signing or a trade may still be viable options (either before, during, or immediately following the NFL Draft).

Check out BigCatCountry Gus Logue’s NFL Draft and Jaguars Top 30 prospects tracker. This may shed a little light on which players Jacksonville may have interest in during April’s draft.

March 31st – April 6th (Mon-Sun)

Jaguars on SI’s John Shipley recently made note of Raiders General Manager John Spytek’s reported conversation with Liam Coen. Spytek was with Coen in Tampa Bay in 2024 and seemed to give substance to the thought process that Jacksonville may not be done looking for offensive line help in the early one to three rounds of the NFL draft. While this doesn’t directly impact free agency, it could give context as to the team’s philosophy was in their free agent pickups at offensive line and gives direction with the draft coming. Additionally, Coen made a similar comment on defensive line investments, with three first round picks currently on the Jacksonville defensive line.

Former Jaguars DT/DE Calais Campbell is reportedly signing with the Arizona Cardinals, per Ian Rapoport. Campbell was someone reportedly of interest for Jacksonville earlier in free agency. It is possible that Jacksonville was interested in Campbell as a potential post-draft option.

March 24th – 30th (Mon – Sun)

The Jaguars seem to at least be aware of a need to further upgrade their receiver room, with NFL insider Adam Schefter reporting the Jaguars as one of the teams believed to check in on free agent recievers Stefon Diggs (after previously showing some interest in Cooper Kupp and Chris Godwin this offseason).

Additionally, restricted free agent OL Cole Van Lanen reportedly visited with the Seattle Seahawks this week. If he were to agree to a contract with Seattle, Jacksonville would have the ability to either match it or let him go and get a sixth round draft pick in return. Teams can negotiate with RFAs until April 21.

Seahawks GM John Schneider says on appearance on @SeattleSports the team had offensive lineman Cole Van Lanen in for a visit this week. Van Lanen is a restricted free agent and was given an original round tender by Jacksonville in March of $3.26 million.

March 17th – 23rd (Mon-Sun)

Offensive Tackle Fred Johnson (discussed below) was reportedly signed to a one-year deal on Wednesday via Adam Schefter.

March 12th – 16th (Weds – Sun)

With the legal tampering period complete, free agency officially kicked off at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, when all previously reported transactions (releases, signings, etc) became official. In official free agency, there have been no additional reported signings (to date), with the Jaguars seeming to be nearly complete after the flurry of initial moves.

New Addition List

OT Fred Johnson: The Jaguars have signed Johnson, a swing offensive tackle with previous stops with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cincinnati Bengals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and most recently with Philadelphia Eagles as a backup tackle. In addition to playing both LT and RT, he also has college experience at right guard, with 28 starts for the University of Florida. It’s reportedly a one-year deal for Johnson.

CB Jourdan Lewis: The former Dallas Cowboys cornerback will reportedly become the highest-paid nickel back in the NFL. The 29-year-old has 10 interceptions and 44 pass breakups in his eight years in the league. The deal will be three years, $30 million, with $20 million fully guaranteed. This may mean that standout rookie CB Jarrian Jones may be moving outside?

QB Nick Mullens: The Jaguars have signed Mullens, the former Minnesota Vikings backup QB to a two-year, $6.5 million contract, with $3 million guaranteed to back up Trevor Lawrence. Mullens played under OC Grant Udinski in Minnesota in 2024.

TE Johnny Mundt: Another former Minnesota Viking, Mundt will add depth to the tight end room with Evan Engram being released. Mundt’s deal is reportedly a two-year deal worth $5.5 million, with a $6 million maximum value, and $2.25 million guaranteed.

TE Hunter Long: The 26-year-old, 4th year, former Los Angeles Rams tight end will reportedly join the Jaguars to provide additional depth to the room. Long’s deal is reportedly a two-year deal worth $5 million with a $6 million maximum value (none guaranteed).

WR Dyami Brown: The former Washington Commanders receiver will reportedly sign with the Jaguars on a one-year $10 million deal worth up to $12 million (none guaranteed). In 2024 he ranked 16th in the NFL in yards per route run vs man coverage, with 14 receptions for 229 yards in the Commanders’ three playoff matchups.

S Eric Murray: The former Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs safety has reportedly agreed to a three-year,$19.5 million base contract, with $12 million guaranteed. In 2024 he poated in 14 games securing 1 interception, 1 sack, 75 tackles, and 5 quarterback hits.

OL Patrick Mekari: The Jaguars have reportedly reached an agreement with the versatile Baltimore Ravens guard. Mekari has been a foundational Swiss army knife up front for the Baltimore Ravens, playing over 500 snaps at right and left tackle in prior seasons while starting at left guard all of 2024. He gave up just one sack in 2024. It’s reportedly a three-year deal worth $37.5 million. The contract has a maximum value of $39 million with over $20 million guaranteed.

OT Chuma Edoga: The former Dallas Cowboys swing tackle is reportedly being brought in to likely compete in a similar role with Javon Foster and Cole Van Lanen. Edoga started 10 games over the past two seasons for the Dallas Cowboys. It’s reportedly a two year, $7 million contract with $3.2 million guaranteed for Edoga.

C Robert Hainsey: The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers center will join Jacksonville on a three-year, $21 million contract with $13 million guaranteed. Hainsey played for Liam Coen in Tampa Bay in 2024, while backing up rookie Graham Barton. He was the 2022 and 2023 starting center, surrendering just 4 sacks and 47 pressures on 1,541 pass blocking snaps (3%).

Rumored Interests

CB Jaire Alexander: While the Jaguars were reportedly interested in potentially acquiring Alexander, at this time it would seem that the team is just monitoring his status should the Green Bay Packers release the veteran cornerback. If Jacksonville is unable to acquire one of their top CB targets, they could choose to make a deal with Green Bay for a late-round pick or attempt to sign Alexander, if released.
Players of interest signed elsewhere

DT Calais Campbell: The former Jaguars DT, who most recently spent the 2024 season with the Miami Dolphins will be reportedly signing with the Arizona Cardinals on a one year deal.

S Jevon Holland: The Miami Dolphins safety was heavily rumored to be of heavy interest for Jacksonville since the NFL Combine, with multiple scouts referring to Jacksonville as “the Jevon Holland team.” However, Holland reportedly agreed to terms with the New York Giants.

WR Stefon Diggs: Free agent receiver Stefon Diggs signed a three-year deal with the New England Patriots. However, per Adam Schefter the Jaguars were one of the teams belieced to have checked-in on the former Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans receiver prior to his signing.

WR Chris Godwin: The Jaguars were expected to have interest in the 26-year-old Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver, as he was be expected to be a top receiving option on the market and coming off a season playing under Liam Coen. However, he will reportedly be returning to Tampa on a new deal.

WR Cooper Kupp: There was moderate offseason smoke surrounding Los Angeles Rams receiver Cooper Kupp and possible interest from the new Jacksonville Jaguars front office. With James Gladstone and Liam Coen both coming from the LA Rams and Kupp being released, a reunion of sorts would have seemed to be table this offseason. However, as with all things, this negotiation seemed to come down to cost and fit with Kupp eventually signing with his hometown Seattle Seahawks.

There were a variety of teams in the Cooper Kupp sweepstakes — including the Broncos, Saints, Packers and Patriots — but the Seahawks sold Kupp on a return home (he’s from Yakima, 3 hours away) and being a key focal point of a new-look offense with Sam Darnold. https://t.co/y1deFsRvh3

G Ben Bredeson: Similar to Godwin, with Jacksonville having a hole at right guard, Tampa Bay’s Ben Bredeson was likely someone on Liam Coen’s radar after playing well in 2024 on a one-year deal for the Bucs. He will return to Tampa on a three year deal.

CB Carlton Davis: Per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Jaguars were expected to have interest in the former Detroit Lions cornerback. However, he was signed by the New England Patriots.

Pending transactions
G Cole Van Lanen’s roster status is currently unknown, as the team has placed an original round Restricted Free Agent tender on the versatile guard/tackle. The Jaguars would receive a 6th round pick should Van Lanen sign elsewhere this offseason. However, Jacksonville would have the right of first refusal to match any contract offered.
Returning Players

One of the stories were not really talking about is the fact that not only did Jacksonville bring in nine outside free agents, but they basically made the decision to not re-sign any of their own free agents
