DAVIE — A group of Marathon High School varsity cheerleaders traded their usual practice setting for an NFL training facility recently, taking part in the inaugural Miami Dolphins Cheer and Dance Camp at the training complex of the Miami Dolphins.

The camp provided the student-athletes with an opportunity to work with current professional cheerleaders, learning choreography, technique and performance skills from members of the Dolphins’ cheer squad.

For the Marathon cheerleaders, the experience offered a firsthand look at the dedication, preparation and professionalism required at the highest levels of cheer and dance.

Athletes participated in instructional sessions led by current Miami Dolphins cheerleaders, who shared material used by the professional squad while offering guidance on performance, teamwork, and confidence.

The event marked the inaugural edition of the camp and allowed participants to interact with role models who have turned their passion for cheer and dance into professional careers.

School officials expressed appreciation to the Miami Dolphins organization for extending the invitation and to Marathon Dolphins Athletics for helping make the trip possible.

The experience provided more than just new routines and skills. It also offered inspiration for the young athletes as they prepare for future seasons representing Marathon High School.

For a program that prides itself on building school spirit and leadership, spending a day learning from NFL professionals was a memorable opportunity and one that the cheerleaders are expected to carry with them long after the camp concluded.
