The current Pittsburgh Steelers roster is a mess. The team has plenty of young players on the roster but trying to find any elite young talent on the roster is a tough task. Pro Football Focus put out their Top 25 players under 25 years old and there wasn’t a Steeler to be found. But this did get us thinking about who the five best players are on the roster under 25 and frankly, it wasn’t easy to put this list together beyond No. 1

1 – C Zach Frazier

No franchise in NFL history can boast the roster of elite centers the Steelers have had one the decades. It’s only been one season but Zach Frazier has all the makings of a player who will eventually be on that list. Frazier is far and away the best Steelers on the roster under 25 as of right now but this is always subject to change.

2 – EDGE Nick Herbig

After Frazier you could basically pull names out of a hat and the order isn’t as important. We put edge defender Nate Herbig here because while he isn’t a regular starter, he does maximize the opportunities he is given. Herbig finished 2024 with 5.5 sacks despite playing only 38 percent of the defensive snaps.

3 – CB Joey Porter Jr.

We wanted to put Porter higher on this list but after a very strong rookie campaign, he took a step back in 2024. Porter’s issues from college crept back in, and he didn’t look like a guy who is ready to shut down the opponents’ top receiver every week.

4 – DT Keeanu Benton

Another guy from that 2023 draft class who came out of the gates fast and slowed down in 2024 is defensive tackle Keeanu Benton. Head coach Mike Tomlin said Benton is a goon and one of those physically intimidating guys and we are very confident he is going to be that guy.

5 – DT Derrick Harmon

This was a tough spot for us because Harmon is a rookie and never played a snap for the Steelers. But Harmon and fellow rookie Kaleb Johnson as the next two best young guys on the team which is more of an indictment of the rest of the young players as opposed to an endorsemnt of Harmon or Johnson.
