A former San Francisco 49ers draft pick has found a home in the UFL.

Pita Taumoepenu, a sixth-round choice of the 49ers in the 2017 draft, was named to the all-league team in the United Football League where he plays for the St. Louis Battlehawks. The All-UFL squad was announced Monday.

Taumoepenu has spent the last two years in the UFL . This season he led the spring league with 7.5 sacks, up from his 5.0-sack performance last season.

This is a nice landing spot for Taumoepenu who struggled to find his footing as a pro in the NFL. He played 11 games across four seasons including two with the 49ers, one with the Atlanta Falcons and one with the Denver Broncos. In those 11 games he didn’t record a sack and notched five tackles in 43 defensive snaps.

Taumoepenu’s Battlehawks led the UFL with an 8-2 record this season and they’re slated to face the DC Defenders in the conference championship game Sunday.
