JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2013 Jaguars fans left EverBank Stadium Sunday with plenty to celebrate after Jacksonville defeated the Cleveland Browns 34-10 in the team\u2019s home opener. The victory marked the Jaguars\u2019 first home win of the season and gave fans reason to believe the team could be poised for another successful year.<\/p>\n
Despite ongoing renovations as part of the Stadium of the Future project, fans packed the stadium and brought plenty of energy. Chants of \u201cDuval\u201d echoed throughout the stadium as supporters celebrated the home win.<\/p>\n
Many fans said the team\u2019s performance reinforced their confidence heading into the season.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m feeling really great,\u201d one fan said. \u201cIt\u2019s our first game of the season, and we won in tremendous fashion.\u201d<\/p>\n
Another fan said the team\u2019s strong finish last season has carried over into this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe season last year was really, really great, and I think we\u2019re feeling the energy coming off of them,\u201d the fan said. \u201cIt definitely feels different.\u201d<\/p>\n
The stadium\u2019s reduced seating capacity due to renovations did not appear to dampen enthusiasm.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had a blast,\u201d another fan said. \u201cA win, which is always good. Super hot during the game, but it was well worth it. Great time.\u201d<\/p>\n
For some, the game carried special significance. One supporter traveled from Washington, D.C., to watch his godson, Jaguars defensive lineman Wesley Williams, whom he identified as a fourth-round draft pick for Jacksonville.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy godson made the Jaguars team this year,\u201d he said. So I came to support him. <\/p>\n
Even opposing fans acknowledged the Jaguars entered the matchup as favorites. One Browns supporter said he expected Jacksonville to win but was surprised by the margin of victory.<\/p>\n
The dominant performance fueled high expectations among Jaguars fans, some already discussing postseason aspirations.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe defense is amazing,\u201d one fan said. \u201cIf they play like that all year, I hope you\u2019ll see them in the Super Bowl this year.\u201d<\/p>\n
While it\u2019s only one game, Sunday\u2019s result gave Jacksonville supporters an encouraging start to the season and renewed belief that the Jaguars could be a contender in the months ahead.<\/p>\n
The Jaguars will look to build on their strong start next week when they travel to Denver to face the Broncos on Sunday at Empower Field at Mile High.<\/p>\n
