Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold<\/a> is dealing with a “very unique soft-tissue injury” to his glute and his hip joint is unaffected, the team announced<\/a> Monday.<\/p>\n

Darnold’s injury is not considered to be a long-term injury but there is no firm timeline on his return to the field.<\/p>\n

Darnold, who led the Seahawks to a Super Bowl title in his first season with the team, exited Wednesday’s Kickoff Game win<\/a> over the Patriots with what was initially labeled a hip injury.<\/p>\n

The Seahawks returned to practice on Monday, and Darnold was not seen on the field during the portion available to the media, per ESPN<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald is next scheduled to speak to reporters on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Monday’s update comes after NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that Darnold avoided a major injury and could miss a few weeks.<\/p>\n

Macdonald said during a radio interview that same day that the team received \u201creally, really good news\u201d on Darnold and later added that he hoped they would have a “really accurate picture of a plan of attack” by Monday.<\/p>\n

Veteran Drew Lock<\/a> would be in line to start Seattle’s Week 2 game<\/a> against the Cardinals if Darnold is unable to play.<\/p>\n
